StauntonWeb began life as The Staunton Marketplace, marketplace.staunton.va.us, Staunton’s first online guide. The Marketplace provided access to Staunton’s burgeoning Internet community, with links to local businesses, real estate information, news & entertainment. Clinton Sisson, the founder later changed the name to StauntonWeb.
In 2003, Curtis Wimer of MCB Web Design, one of Staunton’s most experienced web designers purchased StauntonWeb. He continues to promote Staunton, Waynesboro & Augusta County by maintaining one of the areas most heavily trafficked web sites.
Curtis started designing web sites in 1996. With his background in Real Estate, having worked as an agent for Century 21 in Winchester, Virginia, Curtis secured a position as webmaster with a local Real Estate Broker. That first job led him to more opportunities as area businesses launched their first web sites.
Curtis has also worked on numerous projects for government and civic organizations. He designed the City of Staunton’s Tourism web site, which has now been incorporated into the city’s existing web site. Many of his photos and graphics are still used today. Curtis is also responsible for creating the first web site for the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce and continues today as their webmaster and host.
